Bibi Ka Makbara:- Popularly called the Taj of the Deccan, this is the mausoleum of Rabia Durani one of the queens of Aurangazeb, built by his son Prince Azam Shah in her fond memory. It is built in the garden grave style and is similar to Humayun’s mausoleum in Delhi and Taj Mahal in Agra in architecture.
Darwazas:- Aurangabad is called the city of gates for the presence of 13 gates around the city meant for securing the capital from the intruders. The four main gates serve as entrance into the city while nine secondary gates were constructed for strengthening the defense of the city.
The Aurangabad Caves:- These caves though not as impressive as Ajanta and Ellora even then chiseled out from the Shyadari ranges they symbolize the rock cut architecture of India. Dating back to 1st Century A.D, these caves have religious significance for the followers of Buddhism.
Daulatabad:-Built by Mohd. Bin Tuglaq, it signifies one of the most preserved forts of medieval time in India. This fort which was impregnable because of its internal contrivances, today offers the Chand Minar, Jami Masjid and royal palaces to the onlookers. It has the tomb of Moinuddin Chishti inside it, the spiritual guide of Aurangazeb.

Aurangabad experiences a humid climate free from extremities. It primarily witnesses three major weather changes, summer, monsoon and winter. Summer is observed between March to May and the average temperature falls between 37 – 21 Degree Celsius in this season. It receives rain between June to September and the humidity level increases upto 40 % in this season. Winters are experienced here between March to May and it is the most pleasant season to visit Aurangabad when the temperature ranges between 22 & 7 degree Celsius.

Ajanta Caves:- 104 kms from Aurangabad, dated 2nd Century BCE these are rock cut caves. These caves have paintings and sculptors in forms of Jataka tales which comprises a significant part of Buddhist religion. The frescos or the mural paintings found in these caves depict the zenith of excellence achieved by the artists of those era. It has been declared a world heritage site today.
Ellora Caves:- 30 kms from Aurangabad, lies the caves of Ellora. These were built by the kings of Rashtrakuta dynasty. Built between 5th & 10th Century, these caves once served as temples and monasteries for Buddhist, Jaina and Hindu monks. A world heritage site declared by UNESCO today, these caves today exemplifies India rock cut architecture. The close proximity of these caves belonging to various religions depicts the religious harmony prevailing in the ancient days in India.
Khuldabad:- 22 kms from Aurangabad, Khuldabad marks the grave for the last of the great Mughal Emperors, Aurangazeb. It is the site for the graves of the other members of the royal family and noblemen.
