Weather
Like most of India, Bhubaneshwar too experiences three prime climates. The summers begin here from April and continue till June. The weather remains extremely hot during this season and restricts movements during the day. It receives rain between July to September. Though the rains bring down the temperature, the downpours resulting in water logging control the activities like excursions. The most pleasant weather is experienced between October to March when the outbreak of winters takes place making it the best time to visit Bhubaneshwar.

Dhaulli:- 8 kms from Bhubaneshwar, the land behind the Dhaulli hill on the bank of Daya River is believed to be the proposed site for the famous Kalinga war. It was his holy land which transformed the heart of Ashoka and made him embrace the path of nonviolence and virtues of Buddhism.
Atri:- 42 kms from Bhubaneshwar, Atri is the site for hot springs believed to have medicinal values to cure many ailments. The famous shrine of Hatkeshwar is also located here.
Nandankanan:- Located 20 kms from Bhubaneshwar, Nandankanan meaning the Garden for pleasures is a wild life reserve serving as the natural habitat for many wilds along with a botanical park having trees and plants of some rare and interesting breeds. The national park got international attention when the litters of white tiger were born to two normal tawny tigers. Today it the abode for many wilds like lions, clouded leopard, black panthers, European brown bears, Himalayan black buck, gharials and hundreds of species of avi fauna.
