Corbett

Located in the Indian state of Uttrakhand, Corbett National Park boasts to have the highest density of tigers in India. The park has got a diverse topography with hilly ranges caressed between flat valleys amidst rolling grasslands transforming Corbett into a land of immense natural beauty and as natural habitat for scores of wilds. The ecosystem of the park comprises of rich variety of flora and a diverse varieties of fauna.

Named after the famous conservator Jim Corbett, the park was founded in 1934. The prestigious campaign to boost the tiger population named ‘Project Tiger’ was launched here in 1973. The population of these royal beasts has seen a rise since then. Four families of deer Sambar, Cheetal, Hog Deer and Barking Deer have allowed their population to grow by acting as a prey for these predators.

Apart from its flagship species the tigers, it serves as a dwelling for 50 members of the mammalian family, 25 species of reptiles and 580 varieties of birds. Asiatic Elephants, sloth bears, varieties of members of cat family are the prominent ones. Black Himalayan bear can be seen on the higher elevations of the park. Pheasants, Jungle fowl and Indian hornbills are the commonly sighted birds in the park. The water bodies scattered across the parks are the home for a large variety of Water Birds. Sal, khair, ber, kuthber, bel, chbilla, dhak, semal, khingan, kharpat, Rohini, bakli, pula and bamboo account for the significant vegetation of Corbett.

The weather of Jim Corbett remains pleasant all through the year. It witnesses summers between March to June. Though the summers are not as burning in Corbett as rest of Northern India, but even then the heat experienced during the day restricts the predators and other significant wilds in their den. The rains are experienced in Corbett between July to September and the heavy downpours can control your movements. The best weather is experienced between September to February in Corbett. The soothing climate of this period allows you to enjoy day long safaris as well as many adventure activities available within the park.



 

Nainital:- Nainital is a pristine hill station Located near Corbett. The city is surrounded by hill from all the four sides and amidst the green ranges lies the exquisite blue Naini Lake. The overlooking snow capped peaks further beautify the place. The important places of tourist interest are the Dorothy Seat, Naini Peak, Land’s End, Raj Bhawan and Kilbury.

Aramgarh:- 25 kms from Nainital, this small salubrious town is famous for the Apple Orchards.  It presents spectacular view of the Himalayas. Mahadevi Verma who spent significant time here along with Rabindranath Tagore has her house here. Aurobindo’s Ashram is another significant place of tourist attraction here.

Mukteshwar:- 50 kms from Nainital, Mukteshwar is a picturesque hill station for those seeking tranquility and peace. The place is famous for the temple dedicated to Lord Shiva. Childless couples millions in number visit this temple annually to pray for Children.
