Cuttack experiences primarily three main climates. The summers begin here in April and continue till June. The burning sun prevents sightseeing and excursions. Lalitgiri, Ratnagiri and Udaygiri:- Falling between a distance of 55-70kms from Cuttack Lalitgiri, Udaygiri and Ratnagiri now in its ruins were once the site of Buddhist Monastery. These hills have got mention as Puspagiri in the accounts of Hieun-T-Sang. The unearthed sculptured stone gateways, the brick temples and the images of Buddha narrate the stature of these sites. The door jambs and magnificently finished statues of Buddha make Ratnagiri posses the highest concentration of Buddhist culture post Gupta period.
