Jaisalmer the city of sand dunes is located on the western corner of India lying in the state of royals, Rajasthan. Jaisalmer Fort:- This massive fort built by Raja Jaisala founder of Jaisalmer in 12th century is 250 ft tall and surrounded by sandstone walls 30 ft in height and was once considered impregnable. There are five set of Jain temples built between 12th to 15th century present inside the fort and exemplifies architectural grandeur of Rajasthan.
Havellis of Jaisalmer:- Once the residence of the wealthy merchants of the city, these havellis today are one of the prime tourist attractions of Jaisalmer for their artwork and decorations. The cutwork one stones, the intricate peacock decorations and the use of red and yellow sandstones are a must watch sites within these mansions. The Patwon – Ki –Havelli, Nathmalji – Ki – Havelli and Salimji –Singh- Ki – Havelli are the striking ones amongst all the mansions.
Tazia Tower:- The Tazia Tower elevates from the palace of clouds called the Badal Mahal. The tower spread in five tiers is known for its ornately carved balconies.
Desert Festival:- Every year in the month of January or February this festival is celebrated Jaisalmer. The carnival provides a great opportunity to know the traditional people of Rajasthan, to understand their lifestyle and buy handicrafts which are specialties of Rajasthan.

Jaisalmer primarily witnesses two main weathers. Being a desert city rains are very rare phenomenon here. Summer season is experienced for most of the year. It begins here from March and stays till October. The scorching heat makes the sands burning and restricts all movements during the day. It is not advisable to visit Jaisalmer during this season. Winter is experienced here from November to February. The temperature remains pleasant in these months and it is the best time to visit Jaisalmer.
Lodurva:- 16 kms from Jaisalmer, it was the erstwhile capital of rulers of Jaisalmer. The Jain Temples and ‘Kalpataru’ a devine tree believed to fulfill wishes are the main attractions here.
Gadsisagar Lake:- The Gadsisagar lake located 6 kms from Jaisalmer attracts migratory birds from far off places for their annual wintering. Bara Bagh located amidst this lake appears to be an Oasis in the desert. This lush green garden is a relief to those eyes which are seeking greenery amongst the golden sands spread for miles.
Sam Sand Dunes:- 42 kms from Jaisalmer, the best way to visit this is through a camel ride. Splendid examples of a mirage, the dunes of Sam are picturesque locations.
Desert National Park:- 40 kms from Jaisalmer, it is the home for some of the significant species found in deserts like the great Indian Gazelle and Chinkara Eagle apart from several other breeds of avian. It also has many species of flora typical of desert ecosystems.
Wood Fossil Park:- 17 kms from Jaisalmer, this park takes you to the age of Jurassic Park when the entire Thar Desert was submerged into a Sea. The prime attractions are the fossils which are believed to be 180 million year old.
