Khandala
Khandala is a small hill station enroute between Mumbai and Pune in the Indian state of Maharashtra. It is at an elevation of 625 m on the slopes of the Sahyadri mountain ranges. The air bathed in mint fresh aroma and the woods with the thick cover of green bestows Khandala with exorbitant beauties and draws locals as well tourists across the boundaries. Lakes:- Khandala is flocked with a number of lakes which are popular picnic spots. The most picturesque one being the Valvan Lake which has a garden around it and a reservoir engaged in enhancing its beauty. The other prominent lakes are the Tugauli Lake, Lonavala Lake and Bhushi Lake.
Satyam Sundaram Waterfall:- Satyam Sundaram Waterfall near Khajuraho is man made waterfall with an adjacent pool making it a favorite picnic spot.
Lohagad Fort:- Lohagad meaning the iron fort has got some impressive entrances, a water tank and a cave which was used in the bygone days for storing grains.
Tunga Fort:-The exquisite Pavana Dam is located near the Tunga Fort which has the majestic Mahadeo Temple dedicated to lord Shiva.
Bhairavnath Deva Sthan:- This place is amidst the lush green gardens and the deep neatly carved valleys, it is a rejuvenating experience for the body and the soul.

Summers are experienced in Khandala between March to June. Rainfall happens here from July to September. The heavy rains experienced in monsoons restrict movement during these months. Winters onset here from October and stays till February. The best months to visit Khandala are between October to May.
Karla and Bhaja Caves:- 16 kms from Khandala, these caves belong to the Hinayana sect of Buddhism and a perfectly exemplify the rock cut temple architecture of India. Dated back to 2nd century B.C. these temples are regarded as the oldest Buddhist caves.
Lonavala:- 5 kms drive from Khandala brings you to Lonavala, another picturesque hill resort with blue lakes, forested hills and places with incredible scenic beauty.
Rajmachi Point:- 6.5 kms from Lonavala, this point presents splendid view of the Rajmachi fort built by Shivaji.
Tiger’s leap:- It is a cliff point presenting spectacular views of the valley. A stone thrown from here echoes at many points before finally getting lost amidst the woods.
Kune Falls:- This place falls between Lonavala and Khandala. A picturesque point, water falls here from a height of 100 m. It is an exquisite location for taking bath in groups and for picnics.
The gorgeous garden of Ryewood, the spectacular view from Duke’s nose named after the pointed nose of Duke of Wellington! The green Shivaji Park, the mesmerizing views captured from the Amrutanjan point, the Sakur Plateau, the reversing station and the monkey point are the other places of tourist interest near Khandala.
