Weather:-
Like most of the Northern India Kolkata too witness primarily three types of climate. The summers start here from April and the weather remains hot till July. The scorching heat and high humidity makes traveling uncomfortable during this weather. The monsoons begin from July and remains till September. Heavy downpours result in water logging in the streets and restrict the movements. The winter begin here from October and remains till March. The weather remains pleasant in this season and it is the period of festivals in entire Bengal which makes the travel further enjoyable.

Diamond Harbor:- 48 Kms from Kolkata, River Ganga forms its Delta here before meeting Bay of Bengal. The entire area is covered with breathtaking serene and offers some exciting cruise rides. The neighboring Joynagar has manuscripts and stone images of Buddha, Lord Mahavira and Lord Vishnu. Sagar islands are located in close vicinity of Diamond Harbor which is the site for annual Ganga Sagar Fair.
Suderbans:- 166 kms from Kolkata, this place is known for many reasons, apart from being the largest delta of the world formed by River Ganga, Brahmaputra and Meghna. The area has been declared as world heritage site by UNESCO for its immense natural wealth in forms of estuaries, swamps, tiger, crocodiles and sharks. Sunderbans are the natural habitat for the giant Royal Bengal Tigers.
Chandannagar:- 39 kms from Kolkata, this small city is known for its French buildings built by its erstwhile rulers. Museums, Church, Strand, Rabindra Bhawan and temples are its main attractions here.
Nabadwip:- 120 kms from Kolkata, Nabadwip and adjoining Krishnanagar are the famous religious sites in West Bengal. Nabadwip constitutes the birth place of Chaitanya Mahabrabhu, who is considered to be one of the significant reformers of Bengal. The Royal place called the Rajbari, the Roman Catholic Church, College Bhawan, public Library, Krishnanagar Academy and the protestant church are the prime attractions here.
